The Saint John Police Force (SJPF) will host its inaugural virtual recruitment session this month.
Several members of the recruitment team will participate in the session along with a representative from the Atlantic Police Academy (APA).
“Who will present an overview of the Police Science Cadet Program at Holland College at Summerside, P.E.I.,” said Staff Sgt. Sean Rocca, manager of corporate communications for SJPF.
Members of the recruitment team will provide an overview of the organization, share their experiences as police officers, provide a detailed outline of the application process, and discuss the new sponsorship program with the APA.
“Police training occurs at the APA, and there’s no offer of guaranteed employment at the end of the training program, so what we are proposing is that if someone goes through our application process and they are successful, then they can apply and attend the APA, and if they are successful with that program, we are going to guarantee employment after that,” mentioned Rocca.
The session will also provide information to new and experienced police officers interested in a career with the police force.
“The biggest thing for us is that our mission is to recruit and select qualified individuals of high moral character, who represent the diversity of our community,” mentioned Rocca.
“So, not necessarily just folks who are experienced or new police officers, but people that are highly qualified individuals who are willing to participate in our application process, and be part of something bigger,” continued Rocca.
The virtual session will be held on February 17 over Microsoft Teams from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
