The number of New Brunswickers in hospital who have tested positive for COVID-19 continues to climb.
On Saturday, Public Health reported active hospitalizations have increased by 10 from Friday to 113.
Twelve of those patients are in the intensive care unit, and two are on a ventilator. There are 91 patients over the age of 60 and one person 19 and under in the hospital.
The province also recorded one virus-related death, a person in their 70s from the Edmundston region, bringing the total to 183.
Based on PCR testing, 409 cases and 995 recoveries have been added to the province’s dashboard.
There are 79 new cases in the Saint John health zone, 177 in the Moncton region, and 37 in the Fredericton health zone.
There are also 644 new positive rapid test results.
The rate of new PCR cases is 46.3 per 100,000 for the fully vaccinated, 15.6 per 100,000 for the partially vaccinated, and 112.5 per 100,000 for the unvaccinated.
Of those currently in hospital, the rate is 13.4 per 100,000 for the fully vaccinated, 8.7 per 100,000 for the partially vaccinated, and 24.5 per 100,000 for the unvaccinated.
Among those in the ICU, the rates are 1.1 per 100,000 for the fully vaccinated, zero per 100,000 for the partially vaccinated, and 5.1 per 100,000 for the unvaccinated.
Since Monday, Jan. 10, more than 31,400 appointments have been booked for booster doses of an mRNA vaccine.
There are 5,626 active cases based on PCR testing, which includes 1,850 in the Saint John area and 1,680 in the Moncton region.
