The ice at TD Station in Saint John will soon see a number of new skaters.
The Saint John Sea Dogs completed several trades Thursday ahead of the 2021 QMJHL Trade Deadline.
2021 President Cup-winning netminder Nikolas Hurtubise and forward Danny Akkouche will be joining the team from the Victoriaville Tigres.
In exchange, the Tigres will receive a first-round pick in 2022 and a first-round pick in 2023.
Another trade saw the Sea Dogs acquire forward Marshall Lessard from the Val D’Or Foreurs along with a third-round pick in 2022 and a sixth-round pick in 2024.
The Foreurs receive prospect Francis Woods, as well as a first-round pick in 2022, a fourth-round pick in 2023, a sixth-round pick in 2023, and a 10th-round pick in 2024.
A 10-piece trade between Saint John and Moncton will see the Sea Dogs acquire forward and Ottawa Senators prospect Philippe Daoust, netminder Thomas Couture, and Saint John-born forward Nick Blagden, along with a sixth-round pick in 2022.
In exchange, the Wildcats will receive goalie Jonathan Lemieux, defenseman Natan Grenier, a third-round pick in 2022, a third-round pick in 2023, a sixth-round pick in 2024, and a seventh-round pick in 2024.
The Sea Dogs also acquired forward Connor Trenholm from the Cape Breton Eagles, along with a third-round pick in 2022, a second-round pick in 2023, a third-round pick in 2023, and a third-round pick in 2024.
In return, the Eagles will receive forwards Charles Savoie and Carter McCluskey, along with a second-round pick in 2023, and Saint John’s first, third, seventh and eighth round selections in 2024.
Saint John has also acquired Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Raivis Kristians Ansons from the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.
In exchange, the Drakkar receive forward Evgeny Sapelnikov, along with Saint John’s second-round selection in 2022, a second-round selection in 2023, and a third-round selection in 2024.
The Sea Dogs are set to hit the ice at home after the holiday break on Jan. 20 against the Quebec Remparts.
