A Catholic church in Shemogue has been destroyed by fire.
The century old Saint-Timothée church on Route 15 went up in flames early Thursday morning.
Fire departments from several area communities helped battle the blaze including Cap-Pele, Beaubassin-est, Shediac and Port Elgin.
Officials say the cause of the fire is under investigation.
No one was hurt.
Beaubassin-est mayor Louise Landry said her heart goes out to the community which has been saddened by this tragedy.
Landry thanked first responders for their exceptional work in difficult times.
