There is a new cycling trail in Quispamsis. Millennium Cycle and Sport, a local Quispamsis bike shop, and the town have partnered to create the Millennium Cycle Bike Park.
“Millennium Cycle and Sport has hosted several cyclocross events at our facilities and volunteered to coordinate the cycling competition at the 2018 Canada 55+ Games,” said Quispamsis Mayor Libby O’Hara in a release.
“We see this sponsorship as an extension of our existing partnership, which will allow us to promote the park and our community as a biking destination,” added O’Hara.
The park, located across the road from Meenan’s Cove Park, is accessible via Leeswood, Sycamore and Evergreen Park drives.
“The trails are nice, they are all machine-made, there are lots of corners,” said Dean Roberts, owner of Millennium Cycle and Sport.
At just under six kilometres in length, the trail is for all riders, from beginner to advanced cyclists.
“It’s not too challenging, but there are certain (park) features that you can challenge yourself with,” said Roberts.
The trail is open year-round and can be used for more than just cycling.
“We have some snow grooming (machines) that will be grooming them so we can ride fat bikes, or regular bikes, snowshoeing them would be fine as well,” mentioned Roberts.
Roberts added the park has stunning views of the Kennebecasis River, and there are plans with the town to establish more trails for the area.
