Demolition at the West Side of Port Saint John produced a large amount of smoke on Thursday.
Officials say a large piece of machinery created excessive heat during a cutting operation.
The operation was halted, emergency crews responded, the Saint John Fire Department cleared the area safe for personnel to return to work, and normal operations have resumed at adjacent sites. .
Officials mentioned the incident is under control.
However, demolition activities will not resume until mitigation measures have been approved by the Port Authority.
