A 26-year-old St. Stephen man has been charged following two incidents involving a machete.
In a release from the RCMP, officers responded to reports of a person in mental distress with a weapon outside a Ross Avenue home on Thursday, September 16, at approximately 4 a.m.
Police said they were confronted by a man armed with a machete, who refused to drop it when told to do so.
Due to the altercation, an RCMP officer discharged a firearm, and the man was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound.
Later on, police learned the same man allegedly attacked a 29-year-old man with a machete at a home near Ross Avenue earlier in the day.
