A New Brunswick pharmacist has been fined and his registration suspended after an incorrect prescription dosage was dispensed.
According to the NB College of Pharmacists, a child was given clonidine in gummy form at Dr. Peter Ford’s pharmacy in Moncton that was 1,000 times more concentrated than prescribed.
The child required emergency care at the hospital and a complaint was filed by the pediatrician and parents.
Ford has been fined $10,000 and his registration as a pharmacist manager suspended for four years.
The report said that Ford was transparent and cooperative during the investigation and was apologetic to the patient and family.
