The Greater Moncton International Airport is now offering COVID-19 testing services for travellers.
A private firm, Distribution Ad Valorem, is providing the service in partnership with a New Brunswick company, Soins Proxyma Care.
Airport CEO Bernard LeBlanc says many jurisdictions such as the United States now require a negative COVID test upon arrival.
“So they are actually offering three different types of tests and three different price ranges. People can book their appointment online and get tested either right before their flight or a day or two prior if that works best for them.”
The cost of testing starts at $149 plus HST and LeBlanc notes how pricing is comparative to other airports across Canada.
“But I think in discussions with the provider, they are doing a pilot project between now and the end of August. What they will see is based on the demand and will give room to improve the pricing if demand is there.”
The company offers three COVID-19 screening services, including the rapid antigen detection test, the molecular rapid detection test (NAAT) and the PCR test.
The results of the rapid tests are obtained in 15 minutes and the results of the PCR test may take between 24 and 48 hours.
The service also includes a certificate proving the results.
The testing facility is located just before entering the airport security area.
