A mainstay of Grand Manan council is the new mayor-elect.
Bonnie Morse, a nine-year veteran of the village council, was elected on Tuesday night.
Morse said the new council is a diverse group of nine men and women.
“We can’t be sworn in until after (June) 4th so we are looking at some time the week of (June) 7th I’m assuming to do that. We’ll probably have an informal get-together and have a chat about what we would all like to see happen and how we can move forward as a team,” Morse said.
Morse said one of the big priorities will be to have the Grand Manan Airport resurfaced.
“It’s a critical link for us particularly with Medivac flights so that was something that the previous council had been working on and something I hope the new council is going to take up the challenge and continue to fight for,” Norse said.
The new councillor-elects in Grand Manan are Roger Fitzsimmons, Cara Greenlaw, Jayne Turner, Joanne Brown, Trish Toll, Philman Green, Jordy Leighton, Daniel Boyd, and Gregg Russell.
Congratulations to our friend and colleague Bonnie Morse for winning the mayoral seat on Grand Manan. Bonnie recognizes…
