A Rothesay teen has been named the first member of the UNB Reds women’s soccer team’s 2021 recruiting class.
Ella Mercer has signed a U SPORTS Letter of Intent and will join the Reds ahead of the upcoming season.
The 17-year-old has played on the varsity girls’ team at Rothesay High School for the past three years. She is also part of Soccer New Brunswick’s Team NB program and a member of the Fundy Soccer Association’s club team program.
“She’s one of the top prospects in the province this year, and we’re excited to be able to keep her here at home,” Jon Cross, head coach of the Reds, said in a news release.
Mercer will study Kinesiology while attending the University of New Brunswick.
