Federal transfer payment amounts for the Canadian provinces and territories have been released.
A letter from Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland to Finance Minister Ernie Steeves states New Brunswick will receive $92 million more in federal transfer payments, than in 2020/2021.
For the coming year, the province will receive over $3.4 billion.
Health and social transfer payments will account for almost $1.2 billion.
The federal government also states it has been an unprecedented and challenging year for Canadians, but they have a plan.
The letter states it has invested in healthcare, increased testing and tracing an directly supported provinces and territories as they fight the COVID-19 virus.
It adds, “Building on the discussions during the First Minister’s meeting last week, federal, provincial, and territorial governments will continue to work together to strengthen health care for all Canadians.”
