Two new cases of COVID-19 were reported in New Brunswick Sunday.
That marks just three cases discovered this weekend, the lowest two-day cumulative total since mid-November.
Both cases were individuals in their 60s in the Fredericton health zone. The source of both cases remains under investigation, and the two patients are self-isolating.
Despite the two new cases, nine patients have recovered since the last update, bringing the province’s active caseload to 65.
The number of active cases has dropped substantially since registering a record 120 active cases on November 30.
The number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 also dropped from four to three since Saturday, while the number of ICU patients fell from three to two.
Zone two, the Saint John health zone, still leads the province in active COVID-19 cases with 29, while the zone four Edmundston region maintained the second-highest caseload with 14.
Zone four is still in the orange phase of pandemic recovery, despite no cases being reported in the area this weekend.
There have been 557 cases in the province since the pandemic began, 484 of which have recovered, and eight individuals have died after contracting the virus.
