Saint John city staff is continuing its effort to rebound after the ransomware attack which took down its website and online payment system.
A statement issued Friday afternoon said the city still doesn’t know whether personal information was compromised after the city’s systems were attacked in mid-November.
“Making a final determination on this matter continues to be a priority,” the statement reads. “As soon as we know more, we will notify the community immediately.”
Residents are encouraged to continue monitoring personal information, including credit cards for ‘irregularities.’
The city says its priority remains resumption of full services, balanced with the need not to open itself to further or future virtual attacks.
“We have a team of experts working in response to the ransomware virus, to restore our virtual services for our community effectively and safely,” the statement reads.
The temporary website remains online, and the city says the majority of its services are operational.
Online payments for bills or parking tickets are still down, along with the majority of staff email, and some departmental phone lines.
Saint John Water bill and parking ticket and permit payments can be made at the customer service centre on the first floor of City Hall.
