New Brunswick health officials are reporting an outbreak of COVID-19 at a special care home in Moncton.
The province’s chief medical health officer announced Tuesday that two residents at Manoir Notre-Dame Manor have tested positive.
Dr. Jennifer Russell said the two residents — one in their 70s and one in their 80s — have been moved to hospital to limit further spread within the home.
Russell said all 110 residents and 56 staff members are being tested for COVID-19, adding that some employees have reported potential symptoms.
“The way that those groups… staff… were deployed has gone very smoothly. We’ve taken a lot of learnings from the outbreak in the Campbellton region. Everything that needed to be deployed on short notice has been done,” noted Russell.
Public Health has launched an investigation and contact tracing is now underway.
All admissions and visits to Notre-Dame Manor have been suspended indefinitely.
New Brunswick now has five active cases of COVID-19.
