The Green party candidate in Saint Croix finds the return to school during a pandemic is one of the issues on the minds of voters.
Kim Reeder said a lot of families are collaborating on homeschooling and creating their own bubbles.
Reeder said one of the big environmental issues is the way New Brunswick is allowing forestry to happen.
“We have a lot of small woodlot owners who want to be able to take care of the forest the right away and in a way that allows them to pass on an intact forest to the generation below them,” Reeder said.
Reeder supports the removal of the Milltown Dam because she believes it will be good for the environment and the economy pointing to the Penobscot River in Maine where dams were removed.
“They took out two dams and then did a bypass around the third so, it’s not like we have to look very far for success stories,” Reeder said.
Reeder said biodiversity has increased in the Penobscot River since these changes took place.
She understands things won’t improve instantly but believes Mother Nature has her own way of recovery which the pandemic has shown us.
Reeder also thinks the history of the Milltown cotton mill should be preserved.
“Just because concrete and turbines are coming out doesn’t mean the Milltown history needs to be put aside,” Reeder said.
