The provincial government has appointed a supervisor for the rural community of Campobello Island.
Richard Isabelle takes on the role normally exercised by the council, which lost quorum in May.
Isabelle will look after the administration of the rural community, ensuring day-to-day operations can continue.
He will remain in place until the vacant council seats are filled by an election or byelection.
Municipal elections were supposed to take place in May, but have been postponed by up to a year due to the pandemic.
Isabelle spent several years as an assistant deputy minister for the province and was the chief administrative officer for the Town of Oromocto.
