RCMP believe they have intercepted drugs and other items which were destined for the Atlantic Institution in Renous.
Police stopped a vehicle near the federal prison in Renous on May 30 with two men and a woman inside.
A search of the vehicle uncovered what is believed to be cocaine, cannabis, contraband tobacco along with cellphones, chargers and SIM cards.
Twenty-nine-year old Alexander Munroe from Dartmouth, N.S., 31-year-old Krystle McDonald from Dartmouth, N.S., and 31-year-old Stephen Coleman from Halifax , N.S, appeared in Miramichi Provincial Court on June 2 and were each charged with the following offences:
- possession of Cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
- distribute for the purpose of sale a tobacco product
- possession of Cannabis for the purpose of selling it.
- unlawfully possess cannabis for the purpose of distribution.
- unlawfully possess tobacco product that was not stamped.
- unlawfully possess tobacco that was not marked in accordance with regulations.
They remain in custody and will appear in court to enter pleas at a later date.
