New Brunswick’s premier has announced some changes to his cabinet.
It comes one week after deputy premier Robert Gauvin quit the government over controversial health-care reforms, which were later cancelled.
Riverview MLA Bruce Fitch becomes the new Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister.
“I’m excited about that. We’re an outdoor family, love to camp and kayak and enjoy nature. I am looking forward to taking on that department,” Fitch says.
Fitch was first elected in 2003 and has served as minister in several other departments including energy, justice and economic government.
Saint John East MLA Glen Savoie will serve as the minister responsible for La Francophonie.
He was first elected in 2010 and holds several other roles including as the government house leader.
Premier Higgs did not name a new deputy premier.
