Today marks the one-year anniversary of the Fredericton shooting.
Early on the morning of August 10th, 2018, four people were gunned down in the daylight shooting.
Fredericton police constables Sara Burns and Robb Costello were killed along with civilians Donnie Robichaud and Bobbie Lee Wright.
Former Fredericton Police Chief, Leanne Fitch, who retired in June, told our newsroom it was an absolutely brutal year and months later, the shooting still felt like yesterday.
Fitch said a day doesn’t go by that we don’t think about the families of the fallen.
She also said she is tremendously proud of how her staff and city have moved forward in the weeks and months after the shooting.
It is hard to believe that a year has passed since the tragic shootings in Fredericton that resulted in the deaths of Donnie Robichaud, Bobbie-Lee Wright and two Fredericton Police Force officers, Lawrence Robert (Robb) Costello and Sara Mae Helen Burns.

Premier Blaine Higgs says this terrible incident left the City of Fredericton and the entire province in shock.
“They came together to support one another and the families of the fallen. They have continued to do so. Together, we have grieved. And together, we have begun to heal,” Higgs said in a statement released on Friday.
Higgs says it’s not something we expected to happen in our neighbourhoods to people we know.
