Dennis Oland will learn his fate in a Saint John courtroom on Friday.
Court of Queen’s Bench Justice Terrence Morrison is set to deliver his verdict in the second-degree murder trial.
Oland is accused of killing his father, Richard Oland, a well-known Saint John businessman whose bludgeoned body was found in his Canterbury Street office on the morning of July 7th, 2011.
It’s the second time Dennis Oland has been tried for this crime.
He was convicted in a jury trial in late 2015 and that conviction was later overturned by the New Brunswick Court of Appeals.
Police interference resulted in a mistrial last year and the decision was made to proceed by judge alone.
Mounting financial pressure is considered one motive for why Dennis Oland may have wanted his father dead.
During testimony earlier this year, Dennis Oland denied that suggestion and killing his father.
Court is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Friday.
