Police say a body found near St. Stephen over the weekend is that of a missing 68-year-old woman.
Lorraine Williams of St. Stephen was reported missing after she did not return home from an evening walk on July 7.
Williams was known to regularly walk in the town collecting bottles along the side of the road.
Hundreds of people came out to help look for Williams, but RCMP called off the co-ordinated search Friday.
Ground search and rescue teams from across New Brunswick, as well as New Brunswick EMO, the Department of Natural Resources, the Department of Energy and Resource Development, the Town of St. Stephen and the St. Stephen Fire Department were also involved in the search.
Members of the St. Stephen Fire Department found her body along the shore of the St. Croix River at Todd’s Point on Sunday.
Police said Tuesday “criminality is not suspected” in Williams’ death.
