A massive looming shortage of skilled workers coming over the next decade due to retirements makes the grand opening of a new NBCC facility in Saint John very timely.

Holder says we need to be very strategic in terms of how we develop our post-secondary institutions across the province.
“We also need to partner with the private colleges if they can meet those demands. The bottom line is we need skilled workers, lots of them over the next decade.” Holder says.
Holder says New Brunswick is facing a big challenge as 120,000 people are set to leave the provincial workforce in the next 10 years.

“The addition of the Trades Education Centre allows us to strengthen our trades programs and continue building upon our strong reputation as a leader in skills training,” said Lindsay Bowman, Vice-Chair of the NBCC Board of Governors. “This impressive new facility ensures NBCC will continue to play a vital role in the development of New Brunswick’s highly-skilled workforce.”
