Help is on the way for those impacted by January’s heavy rainfall.
The provincial government has launched a Disaster Financial Assistance program for people, small businesses, non-profits and municipalities
Nearly 100 millimetres of rain fell overnight from January 23rd to January 24th causing flooding, infrastructure damage, road closures and power outages.
Recovery costs are estimated at $9.5 million dollars.
The maximum assistance for structural repairs to a private home is $160,000 and the maximum for small businesses and non-profits is $500,000.
Advance payments against the total value of an eligible claim may be authorized to help pay for urgent work that will help homeowners get back in their properties as soon as possible.
Those who have already for the program will get a package in the mail and if, you can find all the information online.
The deadline to submit an application is May 31st.
