Extreme weather events like last spring’s historic flooding are not likely to go away so a UNB Saint John social sciences professor is hoping to get a better understanding of the impact on homeowners who dealt with the rising waters.
Dr Julia Woodhall-Melnik says we don’t really understand the impact on people who have to leave their homes because of environmental displacement.
The study is seeking participants in the Saint John area and on the Kingston Peninsula but, she tells us they would love to hear from people outside of those areas.
“If there are individuals out there from K.V., Hampton and Grand Bay-Westfield who were impacted by the 2018 floods, we’d love to talk to them as well,” Woodhall-Melnik says.
Community consultations for people impacted by last year’s flooding are being held in mid to late March and will take place on one weekday, one weekday evening and on one weekend.
