A long-serving Liberal politician is the new interim leader following a vote by the party caucus.
Denis Landry was first elected in 1995 and has served as a cabinet minister in the Justice, Transportation and Natural Resources portfolios.
In a statement, Landry says he plans to work closely with caucus members, involve party members and meet with Liberal associations across the province and listen to what they have to say.
Landry represents the Bathurst-area and spent 17 years working in the logging industry before serving with the Canadian Paperworkers Union.
Party delegates will choose a new leader during a Liberal leadership convention in Saint John coming up on June 22nd.
