New Brunswick may see a boost in tourism this summer from France and other European nations thanks to a big endorsement.
Le Monde, a French newspaper, has put the province at the top of its list of destinations not to be missed in 2019.
Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister Robert Gauvin says it is a great opportunity to showcase New Brunswick’s many unique attractions, products and experiences around the world and to promote our province as a premier tourist destination.
Upcoming sporting or cultural events, the geopolitical context and the accessibility of destinations from France are factors in creating the list.
It is the first time a Canadian province rather than a country has topped the list — last year, the top destination was South Africa.
New Brunswick and New York are the only North American destinations on the list.
