The Anglophone South School District has launched a new campaign urging parents, grandparents and child caregivers to actively engage young children by playing with them, talking to them, reading with them and even singing.

The Director of Earning Learning Services in the school district, Gary Hall says licensed daycares are supposed to be doing this already with an established curriculum for early learning.
Hall says talking and reading with children increases their vocabulary and the more words they know, the better readers they will become. He adds children learn social skills through play and if they don’t get this foundational learning by the time they start school, they will be at a disadvantage.
