A blunt message amid the celebration of Easter Sunday mass at the Cathedral in Saint John.
Bishop Robert Harris told the congregation that things can’t carry on as they are with not enough people attend the 83 churches that make up the Diocese of Saint John stretching from St. Stephen all the way to Burnt Church.
He says the closure of St. Joachim’s had to happen and it is not going to be the last church that will have to close.
Harris says it’s too soon to say which parishes may have to close.
Meetings on what the future may look like begin early next month in St. George, Saint John and Hampton.
