In Sussex, a couple with four children, ranging in age from 3 to 15, were not home at the time when fire broke out around 1:00 yesterday afternoon, destroying their older wood frame home at 377 Main Street across from Sussex Elementary School.
They’re staying with a relative for now.The Red Cross is helping them out with emergency purchases including clothing, food, blankets and other basics.
The fire marshall will try to determine the cause. The home was being rented by the family.
