Premier Brian Gallant telling his own story of struggling with poverty as a child while speaking at a Saint John summit on overcoming poverty.
He spoke of moving many times, eating expired food and the embarrassment of having the family car break down and not being able to attend hockey tournaments.
Gallant says it’s important to keep talking about it.
He says they have to continuously co-ordinate and to keep looking for the gaps and the overlap because that is what is hard about fighting poverty adding if fighting poverty was easy it would be done already.
The summit in Saint John’s north end had participants discussing key points like community empowerment, learning along with economic and social inclusion.
