Contrary to a report we aired Friday afternoon about the Birks store closing on August 22nd, the Cowie and Son jewellry store on King Street will not be shutting its doors.
Vice-President Peter Cowie says there had been a for sale sign posted outside by the owner of the building but that in no way mean’t Cowie and Son was going to close. The for sale sign has since been removed.
Cowie is emphatic in telling us Cowie and Son has been in business since 1921 and will continue to operate well into the future.
Cowie says since our report was broadcast last Friday, he has been receiving calls from concerned customers wondering what was happening and he wants them all to know there is no change in the status of the store.
