One year ago today, the City of Moncton was a very different place and it was certainly not a normal day.
Much of the northwestern part of the city was under lockdown after a young man went on a cop-killing rampage which led to the deaths of three officers while two others were injured.
Reflecting on June 4th, Moncton Mayor George LeBlanc says he never could have imagined such tragedy in the city.
He says it was hard to believe that something like this even happened here in Moncton, but if it can happen here, it can happen anywhere.
He says, “The most important thing that we keep in mind here, is that we show our support for the families and at the same tiem there is also a spirit of the community of moving forward in a positive way.”
Leblanc adds the amazing show of support for the RCMP and seeing the city come together was truly heartwarming.
