Over the past few weeks, Saint John High School students have been learning what it's like to be active in the upcoming federal election and they'll be voting today.
Nathan Davis is an Educational Assistant at the school, he says 7000 schools across the country are taking part in the event called Student Vote 2015.
Davis says the purpose of the exercise is to get students into the practice of becoming informed voters and going through the motions of voting.
He says students have become very engaged, even talking politics over lunch hour.
Davis says students have been learning about democracy, political parties, leaders and local candidates.
The ballots are tabulated and sent into the CIVIX databank, where they will remain secret until the ballot closes.
