The unemployment rate in New Brunswick went down last month from 8.7 to 8.4 per cent. The Saint John unemployment rate also dropped from 6.2 to 5.6 per cent while in Moncton, there was a decrease from 6.9 to 6.1 per cent.
Nationally, the increase in jobs that began last July continued with the addition of 77 thousand full-time jobs. That was offset a bit by a decline in part-time employment.
Despite the job gains last month that amounted to 54 thousand, the unemployment rate rose to 6.6 per cent because more people were out looking to be hired.
