Common Council Receives Options On Slope Failure Along Sand Cove Road

It looks like a permanent solution to the slope failure along Sand Cove Road will have to wait beyond next year unless the city gets help with the funding. One lane along Sand Cove Road has been closed near McLarens Beach Road on the way to the Irving Nature Park.

It's estimated a long-term solution will cost from $4 million to reroute the road where the cemetary and Maritimes Opportunity Centre are located to $8.7 million for a berm.

Common Council has been told there has been very little evidence of any movement over the past couple of years following the installation of an array of wells along the toe of the slope to reduce the water pressure.
