The crippling softwood lumber tariffs announced by the U.S. Commerce Department last week will have a devastating impact on woodlot owners in New Brunswick.
That from Rick Doucet, president of the NB Woodlot Owners Association.
Doucet says more should have been done to prevent the 20 percent duty placed on softwood lumber after several reports from the Americans about legislation not being followed in New Brunswick came to light.
Doucet says he hopes the premier is successful with his threatened litigation because he says if not, mills will close and jobs will gone in the industry.
