A major American-based retailer catering to outdoor enthusiasts in Moncton has closed its doors.
Callers to the store will hear a recorded message indicating the location is now closed.
In a letter to store employees dated today (February 22), Cabela’s spokesperson Brent Bowen says the company is consolidating its operations in the region and while the Moncton location is closing, a new store is planned for Halifax.
Bass Pro Shops acquired Cabela’s in late 2016.
Bass Pro Shops took over the former Crystal Palace location in Dieppe in 2015.
Customers don’t have to worry since Bass Pro Shops will continue to honor Cabela’s gift cards, returns, warranties and other promotions.
In an e-mailed statement to our newsroom, the company says most of the 25 full-time employees in Moncton are receiving opportunities to transfer to other locations.
The retailer adds it has no plans to close any other Canadian locations for the foreseeable future.
