Reaction Mixed To Workers' Compensation Task Force

The president of the New Brunswick Federation of Labour says he believes the task force is another example of government red tape.

Patrick Colford says a Worksafe Board already exists with employers and workers and he doesn't think this panel will get to the bottom of things.

"I'm not convinced but any dialogue at all is better than no dialogue.  From what I can gather, the stakeholders weren't being heard at the board.  I don't necessarily agree with that statement," he notes.

On the other hand, the provincial director of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business is welcoming an external group to examine the issue.

Louis-Phillippe Gauthier will be one of nine members of the task force and says he wants to understand what has happened to create the recent rate increases.
