Beer drinkers are going to get a break on the price of ale again this year, but NB Liquor says it won't just be for a summer promotion. They are making the price change permanent this year.
Starting June 26th, some 24 packs of domestic beers at NB Liquor will begin selling for $35.99.
NB Liquor Spokesperson Mark Barbour says they looked at last year's promotion, to decide which beers would be included in this new price, "We stuck to what we knew last year, so the four big breweries in Canada. So the beers will be Alpine, Budweiser, Bud Light, Coors Light, Molson, Moose Light, and Sleeman Clear."
Barbour added, when they look at strategic prices, they look at what is best for the customers, but he wouldn't confirm whether or not this has anything to do with trying to keep liquor sales here in the province, "We do it for our customer benefit in New Brunswick. Although we don't look at other jurisdictions necessarily, we always think of our customers here in New Brunswick."
He says beer sales at NB Liquor represents about 50 to 55 per cent of their total sales in a year.
