The Liquid Gold store on Prince William Street has acquired holiday bragging rights after coming in first place with their gingerbread creation for the Crosby’s Gingerbread Trail contest.
Nancy Tissington of Uptown Saint John says that they had 29 entries this year and says she thinks it’s been growing every single year. She was one of the judges for the event and we asked her what the judging criteria was. She pointed to originality and lots of attention to detail.
“[Liquid Gold] just didn’t do an outside facade, they did an inside with rugs and little beds,” says Tissington. “It kind of reminded me of the Friendly Giant with the little tiny things. It was really cute.”
In second place was Handworks Gallery and the in third place was the Imperial Theatre.
“[Judging] was hard,” she says.
Tissington says you should still be able to check out the gingerbread creations until the end of the month.
